In 1991 three separate volunteer departments of Wanamaker (Station 51), Acton (Station 52) and Bunker Hill (Station 53) were consolidated into the Franklin Township Fire Department. FTFD included 70 career personnel  and provided, Fire, Tactical Rescue and ALS protection from five stations located across the Township in southeastern Marion County. This department merged with IFD in 2011 and their five stations have been consolidated into 3 IFD stations (16, 53 and 55).
