The Wayne Township Fire Department protects 36 square miles and 140,000 residents on the west side of Indianapolis.  WTFD provides Fire, Tactical Rescue, Hazardous Materials and ALS/BLS protection from their 5 fire stations. 130 career Firefighters and 30 civilian EMS personnel staff 5 Engines companies, 2 Ladder companies, 3 Shift Battalion Chiefs, 3 Shift Safety Officers , 3 Shift EMS Duty Officers and 4 Advanced Life Support Ambulances. WTFD responds to more than 16,500 emergency calls each year.
