The town of Howe is located 50 miles east of South Bend along I-80 and the Michigan state border in northern LaGrange County. Established in 1938, this all-volunteer department includes 28 personnel who provide Fire, Rescue and medical first-responder protection from their downtown station. Howe Fire Rescue protects 4,500 residents and 64 square miles including 10 miles of I-80. EMS is provided by LaGrange County EMS.
