Miami County is located 70 miles north of Indianapolis along US-31 in north central Indiana. The county is home to Grissom Joint Air Reserve Base which has been home to a variety of aircraft wings and the current  434th Air Refueling Wing. Eight fire department protect the 35,567 residents (2018) and 377 square miles of Miami County.
