The small town of Metz is located 47 miles NNE of Fort Wayne, just south of US-20 in eastern Steuben County. Organized in 1963, the 17 members of this all-volunteer department respond to just 15 runs each year. MVFD provides Fire protection to 2,000 residents and 50 square miles. Their rural district includes all of York Township and portions of Scott & Richland Townships. Metz also have some dual response areas with Angola & Fremont. In 2013 MVFD began a First Responder program which will increase their responses in the future.
