The small community of Liberty Center is located 31 miles SSW of Ft. Wayne west of Bluffton in western Wells County. Organized in 1949, the 16 members of this all-volunteer department respond to 80 runs each year. LTVFD provides Fire, Rescue and First Responder Medical protection to 1,100 residents and 35 square miles of Liberty Township. In addition, Rescue 4 covers 100 square miles for extrication (about 1/3 of the county) including Liberty, Chester and Jackson Townships.
