The City of West Lafayette is located 63 miles northwest of Indianapolis along IN-26 and US-231/US-52 in central Tippecanoe County. Located along the Wabash River, West Lafayette is best known as the home of Purdue University and its population of 42,000+ students. While Purdue has its own full-time fire department, they are first-due only to the official campus. WLFD protects numerous off-campus housing and several new high-rise apartment buildings in addition to the rest of the City.  Founded in 1894, this career department responds from three stations. WLFD provides Fire, Rescue and BLS response to the City of West Lafayette.
