Jefferson County is located along the Ohio River in southeastern Indiana. The county seat and largest town is Madison. The tallest waterfall in Indiana, Fremont Falls, is located in Hanover, as is Hanover College. Nine fire departments protect this rural county's 32,208 residents (2018) and 362 square miles.
