The small village of Pleasantville is located 70 miles west of Indianapolis along IN-159 and the Sullivan/Greene county border. The department was established in the late 1940's and is possibly the smallest and most rural department in the state. The 6 members of JTVFD responded to only 26 runs last year. However, in order to better server their residents, the Jefferson Twp. and Dugger-Cass Fire Departments merged on 7-1-14 to form the Union Fire Territory. UFT now provides Fire and Rescue protection to 2,600 residents and 76 square miles of Dugger, Cass and Jefferson Townships.
