Fountain County lies in the far west-central Indiana on the east side of the Wabash River. The county seat is Covington. The county has two incorporated cities and six incorporated towns with a total population of about 16,380 (2018). The county is divided into eleven townships which provide local services. The county is split by I-74. Seven fire departments and a county-wide EMS service protect the citizens of Fountain County.
