The small town of Prairieton is located just 8 miles southwest of Terre Haute along IN-63 near the Illinois border. Organized in 1944, this all-volunteer department provides Fire and Rescue protection to all of Prairieton Township. Their area includes 19 square miles and 1,500 residents.
